It is amazing to me how many more children are being diagnosed today with learning related disorders compared to 20 years ago. As an example, when I first started practice, I would see maybe one child with Asperger’s Syndrome in a year. Today, about one third of my practice is made up of children with Asperger’s.

It is also amazing to me that most of the diagnosis’ that affect children academically have a visual component to them. Yet, the visual piece is never taken care of! We can not expect our children to reach their full potential if we do not address their visual needs.

We also live in a time where fewer health insurance companies cover vision related services and fewer doctors are qualified to remediate learning related vision problems.
